County’s infant mortality rate is improving

The Daviess County Commissioners  heard from County Health Nurse Kathy Sullender Tuesday. She reported on the improvement in the County’s infant mortality rate.
From 2009 to 2014, Daviess County had the highest infant mortality rate in Indiana.    So far this year, only two infants have died, one from complications of a premature birth, the other from congenital birth defects.   Sullender gave credit for the improvement to the creation of a local County Community Health Liaison.  The Commissioners approved Sullender’s request to make the position a full time position, with funding to come through a Title V grant.
