“A miscommunication between the parties involved.” That was the quote from Daviess County Economic Development Foundation Executive Director Bryant Niehoff. He was commenting on a decision by the Washington Redevelopment Commission to pay another $90,000 to finish a sewer project.
In a story by Mike Grant in the Washington Times Herald today, a final bill on the project which consisted of two agreements between three parties left out some items amounting to the added cost. The RDC agreed to pay the money which goes to the DCEDF as part of the agreements. The RDC could have declined to pay but RDC Chair Jeff McDonald said it was the right thing to do as the sewer project was completed which benefits the city.
There was a clause added to the new agreement which was no more amendments allowed. Neihoff says a lesson was learned to double, triple and quadruple check details.
