Larry E. Hicks, 71 of Washington, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, November 28, 2019 while surrounded by his loving family.
Larry was born in Portland, Maine on August 23, 1948 and was the son of George Hicks and Carolyn (Thacker) Hicks. He was a 1966 graduate of Washington High School and was wed to his loving wife, Janice (Gilley) Hicks, of 53 years on November 12, 1966. After being married Larry served his country proudly as a United States Marine, and during his tour he was deployed to the Vietnam War; upon his arrival home he joined the work-force at Crane as a civil servant, from which he retired in 2007. Larry attended First Christian Church, was a member of the VFW Post 3321, American Legion 196, and the AFGE 1415, and he also enjoyed boating, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. Larry and Janice also enjoyed escaping to Florida over the cold winter months after their retirement.
Survivors include; wife, Janice M. Hicks; daughter, Danyelle Norris (Kevin Woods); Son, Shane Hicks (Shelley); grandchildren, Bradley Hicks, Logan Hamilton (Bryce), Makaylah Kersey, Michael Kersey, Kasandra Kersey; his mother, Carolyn Matteson; and his sister, Cindy Hicks.
Larry was preceded by; his father, George Hicks; two sisters, Karen Harper, and Joyce Wininger; a brother, Phillip Gerrish.
There will be a visitation on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Gill Funeral Home, from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. A service will follow on Monday at 11:00 A.M. also at Gill Funeral Home with burial to follow at Sugarland Memory Gardens with Military Graveside Honors presented.
