Washington High School Senior, Esteban Becerra has been named a recipient of the prestigious Wells Scholarship from Indiana University.
Students nominated for the Wells Scholars Program are not only Indiana residents, but come from throughout the United States, and foreign countries.   Recipients of the Wells Scholarships are chosen solely on merit.     Becerra is the first Washington High School student to receive this prestigious scholarship.  It will cover all college related expenses for Bacerra’s four years of undergraduate studies.     Wells Scholars must be nominated for the program and then go through a rigorous interview process.  Only 18 nominees receive that special phone call.
Esteban told WAMW what receiving the phone call was like

Named in honor of the late Herman B Wells, Indiana University’s beloved 11th president, the scholarship also provides scholars benefits like financial support for study abroad, summer grant funding, and special invitations to a roster of extracurricular events and activities including opportunities for public service.
