Officials at Good Samaritan Hospital recapped 2019 at their recent Board of Governor’s meeting. It was the last meeting for the year.
Highlights of the year that were mentioned included the start of a Psychiatry Residency, the welcoming of 12 new residents in the Internal Medicine Program, and a downward trend in hospital aquired infections . Four new doctors came on board at Good Sam this year as well as 8 new employed, credentialed allied health professionals.
When officials look to 2020, they say they will focus on improving patient safety and quality; patient experience; increasing employee and provider engagement and community outreach and cost controls.
The Board of Governors at Good Sam say they will work to increase revenue in areas with expected volume increases with a 3.7% operating margin for the year based on increased outpatient volumes and reduced costs. There was also a 3% wage increase in the 2020 budget for employee which adds nearly $2.6 million to the wage and salary expense.
