SHERIFF DEPT ANNUAL REPORT
Drug arrests topped the list of top ten arrests in 2019 by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department.
In his annual report to the Daviess County Commissioners, Sheriff Gary Allison reported his department made 238 Possession of Meth arrests last year.  That’s up over 30 from 2018.  In 2018 drug arrests were at the top of the list but those were for Possession of Marijuana.  In all there were a total of 1,190 arrests in 2019, 846 male and 343 female.  The average jail population in 2019 at the security center was 192.  The report stated that almost 23% of available beds at the jail are dedicated to work release inmates. There were 45 of those in 2019.
There were 554 accidents investigated by the Sheriff’s Department, 8 of those were fatal, and 108 involved injuries.  Four of them were alcohol or drug related.

 EMS ANNUAL REPORT
The Daviess County Commissioners on Tuesday heard an annual report from Daviess County EMS.  However the stats are actually from July to December last year as that’s when the ambulance service was switched and DCH took over services.
EMS Director Teddy Cline reported there were over 2000 total runs.  200 of those were transports, the rest involved a para-medic.  The service now employs 35 people at 4 stations which operate 24/7. The Cannelburg station was recently completed and the station in Odon should open in February. For now the ambulance service has been stationed at the local nursing home.
