LaVerne A. Grannan

LaVerne A. Grannan age 102 passed away Thursday, February 13, 2020 at The Villages at Oak Ridge.
LaVerne was born September 12, 1917 in Washington to Leonard M. and Mary (“Mayme” Dant) Grannan. She attended St. Simon Catholic School and graduated from Washington Catholic School in 1936. She was a member of Our Lady of Hope (St. Simon) Catholic Church. She was an active member of the Legion of Mary, the Daughters of Isabella and in 2006 was installed in the Brute’ Society of the Diocease of Evansville. She had worked for the F.W. Woolworth Co. and retired from the Uniroyal Company after 28 years of service.
LaVerne is survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews and great-great-great-nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters Mary Ruth (Harold) Massie, Theresa (Sheldon) Woodruff, Doris V. (Harold “Hack”) Wilson; seven brothers William G. Grannan, Leonard Norwood, Howard (Lillie Mae) Grannon, Carl H. (Ruth “Bonnie”) Grannan, Denis ”Merl”  Grannan, John Edgar Grannan, James Robert (Anna Marie) Grannon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church on Friday, February 21, 2020 at 12:00 pm with Father Paul Ferguson as celebrant. There will be a visitation from 10:00 am to service time at the church. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 315 NE 3rd St., Washington, Indiana 47501.
