State Sen. Eric Bassler (R-Washington) honored the Monday Afternoon Club at the Statehouse Monday, Feb. 10, with Senate Resolution 22.
The Monday Afternoon Club was established in 1895 as a local literary group to further the education of its members in cultural and literary endeavors. Since their founding, they have helped form the Washington Carnegie Public Library and the Davies Community Hospital, in addition to many other community projects.
“I want to thank the Monday Afternoon Club for 125 years of cultural and literary endeavors,” Bassler said. “Each organization founded or assisted by them over the years continues to thrive and meet their humanitarian goals. This is no doubt a testament to the leadership and commitment of their members, and I wish the Monday Afternoon Club many more years of success in our community.”
