Edward Lents, 84, of Loogootee, passed away at 8:06 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at St. Charles Health Campus.
He was born April 12, 1935 in Martin County, Indiana to the late Curtis and Marie (Alvey) Lents.
Ed married Rita (Greenwell) Lents on March 5, 1962 and she survives.
He was an Air Force veteran and served in Japan. In his younger years, Ed was very involved in the Loogootee Little League. After Ed retired from Crane (CAAA) he helped build Habitat houses and was a custodian for Loogootee Community School Corporation.
Ed was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He enjoyed word searches, mowing grass, and morning coffee from McDonald’s.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Marie Lents; siblings, Robert Lents, Margaret Wathen, David Lents and Larry Lents; and several step-brothers and step-sisters.
Ed is survived by his wife, Rita Lents of Loogootee; sons, Douglas (Mari) Lents of Edgewood, New Mexico, Daniel Lents of Loogootee and Dennis J. (Jenny) Lents of Batesville; grandchildren, Patricia (Bobby) Moore, Curtis (Lisa) Lents, Adriene Lents, Matthew Lents and Carly Lents; great-grandchildren, Landon Lents, London Johnson, Ty and Teagan Moore, Nash and Bennett Lents.
