The Indiana Department of Transportation has announced several projects affecting Dubois County motorists. All of the projects are scheduled to start May 26th.
- Starting the week of May 26th a portion of State Road 162 located near Ferdinand will be closed. It affects the road between County Road 700-South and County Road 815 South to dig up and replace a drain pipe. That work will last through the end of May. The road will be completely closed so motorists will need to detour using Highways 264 and 64.
- Starting the week of May 26th, contractors will close State Road 264 from the intersection of 162 all the way to the end of 264 for deep patching and resurfacing. One lane will be open at all times but restricted to only 9 feet wide. Work starts May 26th and is scheduled to last through mid July.
- Starting the week of May 26th, State Road 164 will be completely closed for a drainage structure replacement project. 164 will be closed just east of Greener Road just outside Jasper. The project entails excavating all lanes of traffic and then replacing the pavement. Local traffic will have access to the point of closure. The official detour uses US 231 and State Roads 56 and 545. The works starts May 26th and will last for only a day depending on weather.
- Starting the week of May 26th, State Road 64 near Huntingburg will be completely closed for a bridge project. The bridge over Rock Creek, 2 miles west of Highway 161 will be shut down as contractors repair the bridge deck. Local traffic will have access to the point of closure. The official detour follows Highway 61, 68 and 161. The work again set to start May 26th and last through the end of June.
