Seven people were shot throughout the Indianapolis metro area overnight, two of them fatally.
The first shooting happened a little after 11:00 p.m. along MLK near 29th street. IMPD Officer Genae Cook said two people were shot.
“An adult male was transported to Methodist hospital by IEMS and pronounced deceased shortly after his arrival,” Cook said. “An adult female was located and transported to Eskenazi Hospital where she remains in critical condition.”
Not long after police secured that crime scene officers got another call about shots fired at an apartment complex on the north side of the city neat 79th Street and Harcourt Road.
“Officers located a male who was unresponsive and had injuries consistent with a gunshot wound,” said Cook. “IEMS responded and pronounced him deceased at the scene.”
From there, officers got calls about more shootings all throughout the city. One on the south side along Emerson Ave. a little before 1:00 a.m. where a person was shot. No word on their condition.
Another person was shot along Washington St. near North Colorado Ave. on the east side around the same time as the shooting on Emerson. Cook said that person was awake and breathing when officers arrived.
At around 1:30 a.m. Cook said a person walked into Methodist Hospital downtown with a gunshot wound. She said they are stable and officers aren’t saying where that person was shot.
Finally, officers were called shortly after 1:30 a.m. to a home along 20th St. west of Tibbs whereCook said officers found person shot. They are stable at the hospital.
