County Council discusses bonuses and raises

Acting on the side of caution, the Daviess County Council has opted to give bonuses and not pay raises this year to county employees.
The Washington Times Herald  quotes Councilman and Budget Committee Chair Matt Meredith who said it’s unknown what funding will be for a lot of departments and though employees are important, the county needs to be cautious with a projection of 2022 as when the economic effects of the pandemic will hit hard.
The council voted to give $500 bonuses to full time employees and $200 to part time workers.  It was also recommended by the budget committee that the county implement a one year hiring freeze.
