William Eugene Holland, 71, of Petersburg, passed away July 9, 2020, at his residence. He was born Sept. 24, 1948, in Washington, Indiana, to William and Vonnie Jean (Ropp) Holland. Bill served proudly in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Knox County Marine Corps League and a member and deacon of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Petersburg. He worked as a city letter carrier and retired from the United States Postal Service.
Bill is survived by his wife, Shirley Holland; son William Donald Holland; daughter Lori Holland; granddaughter Allie Holland; mother Vonnie Jean Holland; brother Milton Holland; and sister Patty Weathers. He is preceded in death by his father, William Marion Holland, and sister Linda Ropp.
Graveside services for Bill will take place at 12:30 p.m. EST on Monday, July 13, at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg, Indiana. A walk through visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon EST at Harris Funeral Home on Monday. Military funeral honors will be performed by the Petersburg VFW at the graveside.
