Former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson is stepping back into the ring. According to ESPN, the 54 year old Tyson will fight 51-year old Roy Jones Jr in an 8-round exhibition fight September 12 on pay per view in California.  Tyson, who is 50 and 6 in his professional career last fought 15 years ago where he lost to Kevin McBride in six rounds.  Jones is 66 and 9 and has claimed middleweight, super middleweight, light heavy weight, and heavyweight titles.  Jones last fight was February of 2018.  The fight is expected to draw millions of people for the 8 rounds on September 12th.
Major League Baseball’s opening day was truly A Tale of Two Cities as rain washed away over half of the first game between the Washington Nationals and the New York Yankees in the nation’s capital for a 4-1 Yankees win. As a severe thunderstorm ripped through Nationals Park, the game was delayed and ultimately canceled after five innings. With the game considered complete, Cole earned the victory in his first start as a Yankee. In Los Angeles, it turned out to be all Dodgers in an 8-1 final, although star-lefty Clayton Kershaw was scratched from his start and placed on the injured list before the game. In his Dodger debut, Mookie Betts picked up a hit and a run scored. Kike Hernandez went four-for-five with five RBI along with a home run.
Day two of the MLB season will hit the Midwest tonight as each NL and AL Central Division team will be in action. The Detroit Tigers will travel to Ohio to take on the Cincinnati Reds at 6:10 PM, followed by the Milwaukee Brewers heading to Wrigley Field in a battle against the Chicago Cubs at 7:00 PM. The Kansas City Royals face the Cleveland Indians at 7:10 PM, with the Minnesota Twins in the Windy City playing the Chicago White Sox at 8:10 PM. The NL Central Division night cap will feature the Pittsburgh Pirates against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Major League Baseball announced yesterday that the postseason will be expanded from 10 to 16 teams participating for the 2020 season. In the 60-game regular season, all three American League and National League division winners and runner-ups will make the playoffs. Four additional teams will be added to the road to the World Series and will be determined by who has the best record of clubs not already qualified of the postseason.
Denny Hamlin’s self-called rough patch came to a halt on Thursday night as the driver picked up his fifth NASCAR Cup Series win of the 2020 season in Kansas. Hamlin held off Brad Keselowski in the final seconds to win for the second consecutive time at Kansas Speedway.
