Registration is now underway for the new Washington Youth Football program at the Daviess County YMCA.   This year there will be  three grade levels.
• 1st/2nd Grade
• 3rd/4th Grade
• 5th/6th Grade
The goal of the program will be to give our kids the opportunity to learn the game of football in a safe environment, teaching football fundamentals, football IQ, sportsmanship, community pride, good citizenship, academic achievement, character, discipline and setting & achieving personal & team goals.  To get registered, visit the Daviess County YMCA or call for more information on getting signed up.  A coaches call out will be announced very soon.
The Indiana Pacers used two dominant runs and defeated the Washington Wizards 111-100 from the NBA’s “bubble” in Orlando. T.J. Warren followed his 53-point performance from Saturday with another stellar effort of 34 points, 11 rebounds, four blocks, four assists and three steals. The Pacers went on a 20-2 run to take the lead in the second quarter and rattled off a 22-2 run to end the third quarter. Malcolm Brogdon returned to the lineup and scored 20 points to go with seven assists and six rebounds. The Pacers take on the Orlando Magic Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. Eastern.
The Indianapolis Colts took to the practice field for the first time Monday. Tenth year left tackle Anthony Castonzo said he took a hard look at the possibility of opting out of the 2020 season due to concerns over COVID-19, but decided to play. Castonzo said after seeing all the precautions in place, it made sense to play. He added the Colts have a good team and it’s an exciting season and that it was something he wanted to be a part of. Castonzo turns 32-years-old next week and contemplated retirement earlier this off season before signing a two-year, 33 million dollar extension in March.
Opening day for practice for the Indianapolis 500 has been pushed back one day. The practice scheduled for Tuesday, August 11th has been canceled, and practice and will now begin August 12th. That Wednesday will include rookie orientation, and practice sessions Thursday, August 13th and Friday, August 14th remain unchanged. The change was first reported by the Associated Press, and no reason for the cancellation was given.
Alec Mills pitched seven shutout innings and the Chicago Cubs beat the Kansas City Royals 2-0 Monday night at Wrigley Field. Kris Bryant returned to the Cubs lineup after missing two games with a stomach illness and hit a solo home run to cap the scoring in the seventh inning. Chicago has won four games in a row and eight out of 10 to start the season. The series continues Tuesday with Kyle Hendricks on the mound for the Cubs.
The Chicago White Sox came back to defeat the Milwaukee Brewers 6-4 at Miller Park for their fifth straight win. Jose Abreu clubbed a two-run home run to tie the game at 4 in the seventh inning. In the eighth inning, White Sox shortstop Leury Garcia scored on a wild pitch to give the Sox the lead, and Yoan Moncada added an insurance homer in the top of the ninth.
Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto returned to the lineup and hit a two-run go-ahead home run in the sixth inning to give the Reds a 3-2 win over their in-state rival Cleveland Indians. Votto missed Sunday’s doubleheader after self-reporting coronavirus symptoms. He tested negative twice for COVID-19 and the future hall of famer returned to the team. Sonny Gray earned the win after striking out eight over six innings. The Reds have won four in a row, and Gray is now 3-0 on the young season.
