The Washington High School Athletic Office has released their plans for home games for the upcoming Fall Sports Season.  Athletic Director Larry Cochren says the plan has been submitted and approved by the Daviess County Health Department and he tells us it is going to be quite a bit different this year as crowds will be limited on both sides..

The Hatchet Football team will scrimmage North Posey on Saturday, and will open the regular season one week from Friday at Hatchet Hollow with the Boonville Pioneers.  Remember your home for Hatchet Football is Memories 107.9fm and we will bring you every game home and away here on your home for the Hatchets WAMW.Practice began Wednesday for the 104th Running of the Indianapolis 500. James Hinchliffe was fastest with a speed just over 224 and a half miles per hour. His Andretti Autosport teammate Marco Andretti was second quick, while Scott Dixon finished practice third fastest. Ryan Hunter-Reay and former F1 world champion Fernando Alonso rounded out the top five. All five rookies passed orientation, although A.J. Foyt Enterprises freshman Dalton Kellett did not finish his orientation until after 4 p.m.
Notre Dame football announced that two players have tested positive for the coronavirus. The program conducted its latest round of testing Monday with 117 tests when it found the positive tests. One was mildly symptomatic and the other was asymptomatic. Both players are in isolation, and the school used contact tracing to identify seven other players who are now in quarantine. All 43 staff members that were tested were negative. The Fighting Irish began practice for the 2020 season on Wednesday.
The Indiana Pacers held off a late charge from the Houston Rockets to win 108-104 Wednesday afternoon. Indiana was led by a balanced effort of five players scoring 16 or more points. Myles Turner and Justin Holiday each scored 18 points, while Edmund Sumner poured in 17 off the bench. Houston was led by former MVP James Harden’s 45 points and 17 rebounds. With the victory, the Pacers clinched a first round playoff matchup with the Miami Heat and will be either the fourth or fifth seed in the East. Miami and Indiana play Friday afternoon in the final seeding game before the playoffs begin.
Kyle Hendricks improved to 3-1 as the Chicago Cubs beat the Cleveland Indians 7-2 Wednesday night at Progressive Field. Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant each hit solo home runs, while Jason Heyward and David Bote both drove in two runs apiece. Chicago improved to 12-3 with the victory, matching their best start since 1970. The Cubs will host the Brewers Thursday night to open a 10-game, 11-day homestand.
The Kansas City Royals held on to beat the Cincinnati Reds 5-4 Wednesday night at Great American Ballpark. Royals closer Trevor Rosenthal loaded the bases with one out in the ninth, but Christian Colon grounded into a game-ending double play. Wade Miley picked up the loss after leaving the game in the second inning. Miley gave up a run on two hits, two walks and just 43 pitches, and said he was struggling with his control. Cincinnati stays home to host the Pirates Thursday.
The Chicago White Sox defeated the Detroit Tigers 7-5 Wednesday afternoon at Comerica Park to take the rubber match of the three game series. White Sox center fielder Luis Robert hit a three-run double as part of a four-run fifth inning. White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson led off the game with a home run, and notched four hits, finishing a double shy of the cycle. The White Sox are 10-9 and have won eight out of their last nine road games.
