Vonda M. Elliott gently passed away at her home in Loogootee on August 14, 2020 at 6:41 A.M. She was 72.
Vonda was born April 20, 1948 in Huntingburg, IN to Bethel O. and Jessie F. (Cochran) Parsons both deceased.
She married Michael D. Elliott on April 12, 1969 at St John Catholic Church in Loogootee. Vonda was mother to Michel Dawn and Michael David Elliott Jr. of Loogootee. She is survived by both children as well as her husband.
Vonda was the first of four girls, her sisters were Donna K. Williams of Loogootee, Joyce A. (Elmer) Rashe of Jasper. One sister Wanda F. Humpert preceded her in death, sisters-in-laws Donna VanWinkle, Irene Elliott, Debbie Elliott, Georgia Elliott, Rita Elliott, Thelma Elliott, Mary Elliott and brother-in-law Tony Elliott.
Vonda retired from Crane Naval Base in 2002 having worked with some of her best friends.
Vonda was very active at St. Martin Catholic Church in Whitfield having served several terms on the parish council, president of the Rosary Altar Society, editor of Our Catholic Neighborhood newsletter and was the coordinator of the parish funeral meal committee a job she loved doing. She was also the volunteer parish secretary for many years. Vonda was the goto girl for anything related to parish activities always ready to do anything for anyone in need. She will be greatly missed by all including her gang of Vegas girls.
Visitation will be from held Monday, August 17, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee.
Mass of Christian Burial for Vonda will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. August 18, 2020 by her close friend Fr. Joseph F. Erbacher and concelebrated by Fr. Ken Walker and Fr. Leo Kiesel at St. Martin Catholic Church in Whitfield with burial to follow at St. Martin Cemetery.
