The 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 is coming up Sunday. Carb day is Friday as final preparations will be made before the big race. Marcus Ericcson will be driving the #8 Car for Chip Gannasi Racing and qualified for the 11th spot. The Miami Heat outscored the Indiana Pacers 32-21 in the fourth quarter and went on to win Game 1 of the first round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs 113-101 from the NBA’s “bubble” in Orlando. Pacers star guard Victor Oladipo left the game in the first quarter after he was poked in the left eye. According to the team, he visited the on-campus NBA clinic for further evaluation, and is day-to-day after the initial evaluation showed no immediate concerns.
The Chicago Cubs hung on to defeat the St. Louis Cardinals 6-3 Tuesday night at Wrigley Field. Chicago jumped out to a 6-1 lead before the Cardinals fought back against the Cubs’ bullpen. Cubs starting pitcher Yu Darvish was excellent once again, striking out seven over six one-run innings. His ERA dropped to a 1.80 as he improved to 4-1. The two teams will play a doubleheader today at St. Louis as the Cardinals continue to make games up after not playing for over two weeks due to a COVID-19 outbreak.
The Cincinnati Reds contest with the Kansas City Royals was postponed Tuesday night and the teams will play a twi-night doubleheader Wednesday. The game was postponed out of an abundance of caution and to allow for additional coronavirus testing within the Reds organization. An unidentified Reds player tested positive over the weekend, which caused two weekend games against the Pirates to be postponed.
