High speed chase in Gibson County leads to arrest

A high-speed-chase occurred yesterday in Gibson County. The Gibson County Sheriff’s Department notified officers to be on the look out for a white Ford Truck driving recklessly. A deputy with the Gibson County Sheriff’s Department pulled over the truck not long after the alert when he saw the same truck had failed to signal. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and observed that the driver was not responding to his questions, was having trouble concentrating, and was not producing the proper paperwork when asked. When the driver finally produced a driver’s license the name and picture did not match the driver.
At that point the deputy asked the driver to turn their vehicle off, and went back to his vehicle and radioed for additional units. While waiting on the additional units the driver restarted the vehicle and fled the scene. The deputy then immediately radioed dispatch of the pursuit and began chasing the vehicle as it fled into the city of Princeton and up State Road 65 to the Pike Gibson County Line. It was at that point the driver of the truck wrecked and was identified as 32-year-old Donald Forbes of Kankakee, Illinois. He was then taken into custody. While fleeing from law enforcement Mr. Forbes crashed into both a Princeton Police Vehicle and Gibson County Sheriff’s Department vehicle. After a roadside investigation Mr. Forbes was taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Jail on several charges. Mr. Forbes remains in custody on a $1500 bond. No officers were injured during these events.
