The Washington Hatchet Volleyball team fell to a tough Heritage Hills team at home last night in straight sets 13-25, 15-25, 15-25. The Hatchets drop to 12 and 4. Washington won the JV Match in two.
The North Daviess Cougars got a conference win beating White River Valley in straight sets 25-14, 25-19, 25-20. North Daviess improves to 8 and 8, 3 and 1 in the conferce. The Cougar JV were also winners
The Barr-Reeve Viking Volleyball team improved their record to 18-2 with a 3-0 win over South Knox Spartans. The scores were 25-10, 25-11 and 25-12. The BR JV was also victories with a 2-0 win over the Spartans to improve to 7-4 on the season. The Vikings are now off till next Monday night when the take on the Washington Hatchets. The Barr-Reeve JV will travel to Loogootee this Saturday.
The Barr-Reeve Tennis team fell from the unbeaten ranks as they lost 4-1 to Loogootee on Thursday afternoo. The Vikings record dropped to 14-1 with the loss. Loogootee secured the Blue Chip Conference title and improved to 17 and 0 on the year. Both teams were undefeated going in to the match. The Vikings will be in the Vincennes Tennis Tourney this Saturday.
The North Daviess Cougar tennis team is now 12-4 overall after a 5-0 win at Linton. The Cougars will travel to face 2019 state finalist Evansville Reitz on Saturday afternoon
The 8th ranked Washington boys soccer team took a tough loss on the road last night falling at Boonville 4-3. The Hatchets did claim the JV Win.
High School Football under the Friday night lights its the WAMW “Battle of the White River” tonight as the Washington Hatchets will host Pike Central in the new series with a traveling trophy from WAMW. The Hatchets will also celebrate homecoming tonight at Hatchet Hollow. Kick off is set for 7pm with live coverage starting at 6:45pm on Memories 107.9fm.
The Cincinnati Bengals are 0-2, but that’s not the fault of Joe Burrow. Burrow had a historic game for the Bengals in his primetime debut last night, showcasing why he is the franchise quarterback and living up to the reputation of the No. 1 overall pick. Burrow finished 37 of 61 for 316 yards with three touchdowns and zero interceptions in the Bengals’ 35-30 defeat to the Cleveland Browns. Burrow became just the third rookie quarterback since 1950 to attempt 60-plus passes in a game, He’s the first rookie quarterback to throw 60-plus passes in September and the first rookie quarterback to attempt over 55 passes in a game since Sam Bradford in 2010. And Burrow became the first rookie quarterback in NFL history to throw 60+ passes in a game and have zero interceptions and just the 10th quarterback ever to accomplish the feat — joining the likes of Ben Roethlisberger (who actually did it twice), Aaron Rodgers and Andrew Luck.
The Indianapolis Colts host the Minnesota Vikings Sunday in their home opener at Lucas Oil Stadium. Indianapolis is a three point favorite as both teams look to win their first game of the season. Lucas Oil Stadium will hold up to 2,500 fans Sunday and spectators must wear masks and will be temperature screened upon entering.
