In honor of National Hunting & Fishing Day, DNR is thanking all individuals who purchased a license this year. DNR states without license purchases, they would not be able to maintain more than 430 public access sites along Indiana’s waterways and lakes. These sites provide access to countless water-based recreational opportunities for all Hoosiers to enjoy. These dollars also allow them to raise more than 20 million fish stocked at over 400 water bodies.
Sept. 26 is not only National Hunting & Fishing Day, but also is the last Free Fishing Day of the year. On this day, Indiana residents will not need a fishing license to fish out of public waters. DNR says free fishing days are a great way to learn how to fish or introduce individuals to fishing.
