Indiana State Police is reminding drivers not to “Veer for Deer.” IN 2019, more than 16,300 crashes involving deer happened in Indiana. Hoosier motorists are reminded that deer are the most active during dusk and dawn and that if you see one deer, more are likely close by.
Indiana State police say if you are in a situation where a collision with a deer is unavoidable, brake firmly, but make sure to stay in your lane and don’t swerve.
Motorists are asked to come to a complete stop and to move the vehicle out of traffic to a safe location.
