Washington Jr High 7th grade football traveled to Bicknell and took on a 7th & 8th grade North Knox team. The score was tied at the half. The Hatchets came out strong and ended the third quarter 38-14. They never looked back. Washington went on to win over North Knox 54-22. The 7th graders improved to 5-0 on the season
The Washington girls soccer team saw their season come to an end last night falling on the road in the Princeton 2A sectional 2-1. Both teams were tied at a goal apiece late in the second half when a breakdown on defense following a corner kick left enough room for Princeton to poke one through with just over two minutes left to seal the deal. Washington girls soccer ends a great season at 9-4-1 on the year. Princeton moves on to face Vincennes tomorrow night in the semi final.
Meanwhile Washington Catholic’s girls soccer team did advance in the 1A tournament at North Knox last night topping Bloomfield 6-1. WC will now play Vincennes Rivet in the semi finals tomorrow night after they advanced with a 1-0 win over Sullivan. The other semi final game will have North Knox against South Knox.
Tonight the Hatchet Boys compete in the semi finals at Gibson Southern as they will take on Pike Central. Game time is 6pm with live coverage at 5:45pm on Memories 107.9fm. Gibson Southern plays Vincennes in game two with the winners playing for the championship on Saturday.
At the boys tennis regional at Jasper, the Hatchet boys tennis team defeated North Daviess 3-2. It came down to 2 doubles, Gunnar Jones and Brycen Neidigh who clinched it with a three set win. The Hatchets will face Jasper tonight for the championship. Jasper advanced with a 4-1 win over a very good Loogootee team to move on to the title match.
The Barr-Reeve Vikings improved their record to 24-2 with at 25-10, 25-13 and 25-4 victory over Northeast Dubois last night. With the win the Vikings won the Blue Chip Conference Title with a 7-0 Record. In the JV contest the Vikings also won 25-13, 25-13 to improve their overall record to 13-5 and 6-0 in Conference play. With the win the JV also won the Blue Chip Conference Title. Next up for the Vikings they travel to Tecumseh in a battle of ranked 2A teams.
The Butler Bulldogs men’s basketball program has opted not to play in the Fort Myers Tip-Off, according to the IndyStar. Butler is not expected to enter into another in-season tournament, and the Bulldogs’ regular season schedule will stand at a maximum of 25 games. The Fort Myers Tip-Off was scheduled for November 25th through 27th with Butler, Colorado, Wisconsin and South Florida as the four participants. The college basketball season is scheduled to start November 25th.
The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Miami Heat 102-96 in Game 4 of the NBA Finals to take a 3-1 series lead. LeBron James scored 28 points, to go with 12 rebounds and eight assists, and Anthony Davis added 22 points as the Lakers are within one win of clinching their first title in 10 years. Davis knocked down a dagger 3-pointer with 39 seconds to go to put L.A. up by nine. The Lakers go for the title Friday night in Game 5 from the NBA’s bubble in Orlando, Florida.
The Indianapolis Colts return to the practice field Wednesday in preparation for Sunday’s road showdown with the Cleveland Browns. Cleveland is coming off a 49-38 over the Dallas Cowboys. Like the Colts, the Browns have won three in a row and are 3-1. Indianapolis could be without starting left tackle Anthony Castonzo, who suffered a rib injury late in Sunday’s win over the Bears. The Colts have had the same starting offensive line each of the last 20 games, and coach Frank Reich did not rule out Castonzo.
At the ballparks, the Braves beat the Marlins 9 to 5. The Astros topped the A’s 5 to 2. The Rays tied their series at a game apiece with a 7 to 5 win over the Yankees. And the Dodgers opened with a 5 to 1 win over the Padres.
