A new rising sport is growing fast in Washington.  Pickleball is a game played on shortened tennis courts with a paddle and a wiffle ball, and is fun for all ages.  Bob Eglehart with the local Daviess County Pickleball Association tells us a little more about the sport…

Dan Gress with the group says they are working with the city to build new pickleball courts at Longfellow Park…

The court construction is expected to begin next Summer.  For more information about Daviess County Pickleball follow them on facebook and tune in tomorrow morning as we talk to some players and learn more about the sport on Focus on the Community at 8:30am on Memories 107.9fm.

Barr Reeve and Loogootee are heading to Ball State in Muncie today for final preparations for their championship Volleyball matches in the State Finals.  Loogootee plays Pioneer at 10:30am, and Barr Reeve will face Wapahani at 1:30pm.  You can hear both games tomorrow on WAMW.  Community send offs are planned at each school later this morning.

Well we would be off to Sullivan tonight for the Football Sectional championship, but again if you did not hear the news yesterday the game was cancelled and ruled a no contest as Washington players came in contact with a player or players from Edgewood who tested positive for the Corona Virus.  Community members in Washington are urged to wear black and gold today in support of the team and their great season this year.

Wednesday night the Washington Hatchet Volleyball team held their awards banquet. WHS had all 5 seniors make Academic All State this year! Which is a huge accomplishment for these girls as well as Washington Hatchets Athletics.  Alaina Thorne was named to the all PAC team and two to the 2nd all PAC team (Alida Ajradinoska and Kencia Levasseur). The Seniors earning Academic All State were Bella Thorne, Jade Browning, Emma Williams, Albany Walden, and Alida Ajradinoska
