WCS awards high school diploma to Andy White

According to the Washington Times Herald, a long-time resident of Washington has finally earned his high school diploma. Andy White was scheduled to graduate from Washington High School in 1967. Due to many unforeseen circumstances throughout his early life, White was forced to leave home without graduating high school. He only needed his government credit to graduate. White is now in hospice care, but his wife and daughter reached out to Washington Community Schools to see if it would be possible for him to complete his course work and graduate. Superintendent Dr. Dan Roach, School Board President Randy Bouchie, and Washington High School Principal Steve Peterson, were touched by his story, and went to visit with him and to award him his high school diploma. Peterson asked him if he had any advice to give to current students. White responded by saying, “Stay in School, don’t quit.”
