The Deadline for ordering wreaths for this year’s Wreaths Across America project has been extended. The Vincennes Kiwanis and Vincennes Rotary Clubs are teaming up again this year to keep the Wreaths Across America program in Vincennes. The goal of the Vincennes service clubs is to place a wreath at the graves of all 3300 veterans buried in the Vincennes City Cemeteries. Last year, the group raised funds to place 2000 wreaths, and the goal this year is to get even closer to the 3300 needed.
Wreaths are $15 each and can be purchased by individuals or businesses. Orders can be taken in person at the Vincennes Water Department office at 403 Busseron, or at Henderson Transfer, 1611 Broadway. Orders can also be mailed to Box 272, Vincennes, or online at Wreaths Across America dot org…or from the local group’s Facebook Page, Wreaths for Knox County.
Individuals are welcome to attend the program on December 19th, then take their wreaths for personal placement at the graves of their friends and relatives. A joint committee comprised of member from both Kiwanis and Rotary is also seeking donations from area businesses so that remaining grave sites of veterans will also have a remembrance wreath during the Holidays. Volunteers are also being sought to help distribute wreaths that day.
Checks can be made out to Wreaths for Knox County, and mailed to PO Box 272, Vincennes.
Your contribution not only pays honor to local veterans, but also benefits the 2 local service clubs that give tens of thousands of dollars each year back to the community.
