Vera L. Chattin, 93, passed away peacefully November 15, 2020 at Hillside Manor Nursing Home in Washington, Indiana. She was born to the late Sam W. Brown and Myrtle M. Brown (Cave). She was married to her loving husband Vernon E. Chattin for 64 years prior to his passing in 2015. She was a graduate of Plainville High School in 1945.
A lifelong resident of Plainville, Vera served the community in her early years as administrator of the Sam W. Brown Insurance Agency. Later in life it was not unusual to find Vera greeting folks from her front porch.
Vera was a member of Plainville First United Methodist Church where she offered music ministry for many years, directing the choir and playing the piano. She also provided music for weddings, celebrations of life and special events. Vera was an avid reader, accomplished seamstress and deft with needle, yarn and thread. She loved traveling to various parts of the United States of America.
Survivors include her daughter, the Rev. Dr. Terri Rae Chattin, of Randallstown, Maryland. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, and four brothers, Cletus, Lloyd, Clyde and Wilburn Brown.
Services will be live streamed on Facebook from Gill Funeral Home at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 with the Rev. Rex Thomas and the Rev. Dr. Terri Rae Chattin officiating.
