Mack Jones, 91, of Washington, passed away at 12:20 am Saturday, November 21, 2020 at his residence.
Mack was born on June 10, 1929 in Daviess County, Indiana to Benjamin Harrison and Hallie H. (Spainhour) Jones. He married Roberta G. Gaither on June 29th, 1947 and they spent 56 years together until her passing in July of 2003. His daughter, Erin Kathleen Jones, resides in Lake Andes, South Dakota. His only daughter was deeply cherished by her father and loved and appreciated. On July 15, 2006, he married Karen E. (Foster) Jones, and they enjoyed fourteen years together.
Mack was a farmer in his early years and served the Lord in various mission works. He and Roberta worked in New Mexico with the Navaho Indians and actually fostered an Indian boy named Herbert Valdeze. Mack did much mission work in the Washington area including Bible studies, provided transportation for those in need with doctor’s appointments, cottage prayer meetings, and spent time in Haiti and Jamaica to help Rev. Bob Thompson who also was born and raised in Washington in missionary efforts. Mack also was Associate Pastor at Trinity Gospel Tabernacle and chairman of the Tabernacle Holiness Camp for many years. Many students who attended Trinity Holiness Academy remember him as Administrator and Supervisor.
During Desert Storm Mack worked as a Ham Radio Operator and used his radio work to help missionaries in foreign fields to have communication with their relatives back in the states. He never forgot the 11 months he lived in a tent while in the Air Force during the Korean War. He loved his country and still appreciates those who serve in the Armed Forces.
Mack also leaves behind one brother Samuel E. Jones of Washington, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, and many wonderful friends.
Also preceding Mack were his parents; and siblings Elizabeth Horton, Don Jones, Joan (Lemon) Henson, Bert Jones, and Olive Jones who died when she was nine years old.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Trinity Gospel Tabernacle with Rev. James Myers and Rev. Johnathan Meenach officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Tuesday at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State Street, Washington.
