Alabama has a lot to celebrate. The Crimson Tide won their 18th – yes 18th – national college football championship. The number one seed beat number three Ohio State by a score of 52 to 24. Alabama is the 2nd team to score over 50 points in a college football title game – the first being USC in 2005. We call that a romp. Nick Saban applauded his team for the way they played all season.
Butler heads to New York to take on St. John’s in a Big East matchup Tuesday night. The Bulldogs are 3-6 and 2-4 in conference play and are coming off a 72-60 loss to UConn over the weekend. St. John’s is 6-6 with a 1-5 Big East record and the Red Storm are favored by a basket.
The Indiana Pacers could not overcome a double-digit fourth quarter deficit and lost to the Sacramento Kings 127-122 Monday night. Buddy Hield hit his sixth 3-pointer with just over a minute to go to give Sacramento a four-point lead after a Pacers go-ahead basket was overturned on a replay review. Indiana led 117-116 before a 7-0 Kings run gave the home team control.
There’s an opening for an NFL head coach in Philadelphia. The Eagles have fired Doug Pederson after not making the playoffs and only winning four games this season – their worst record since 2012. The move came three years after winning the Super Bowl.
