Several high school games on the schedule tonight but due to school closings, they will more than likely be cancelled. One game has already been cancelled, the Barr Reeve vs North Knox girls game has been cancelled tonight. They are working on a make up Saturday afternoon. North Daviess has announced they have added a game tomorrow night at home at the Cougar Den. The North Daviess boys will host Lanesville tomorrow night. JV tips off at 6pm. The Indiana Pacers pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat the Charlotte Hornets 116-106 Wednesday night in Charlotte. Domantas Sabonis had 22 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, and tied a franchise record with his sixth career triple-double. Sabonis was questionable to play after leaving Monday’s win over Toronto with a bruised knee, and ended up 9-for-10 from the field. Indiana jumped out to a 17 point advantage after one quarter before the Hornets crept back in the game. The Pacers outscored Charlotte by six over the final quarter to improve to 11-7. The Pacers will stay in Charlotte to play the Hornets again Friday night.
Notre Dame stumbled in the first half and lost at home to 20th ranked Virginia Tech 62-51 Wednesday night. The Fighting Irish scored just eight points in the game’s first 13 minutes and fell behind by as many as 15 in the first half. The Hokies kept the Irish at bay and never led by fewer than nine in the second half as Notre Dame dropped to 5-9, snapping a two-game winning streak. Prentiss Hubb led all scorers with 22 points, but no other Notre Dame player scored more than eight.The Fighting Irish return to action Saturday night at Pittsburgh.
Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay spoke to the media Wednesday as the team enters a crucial offseason. Irsay asserted that the Colts are Super Bowl contenders and spoke to the importance of finding a new franchise quarterback after Philip Rivers retired. Irsay said that ideally general manager Chris Ballard would acquire a QB who can play at a high level for the next several years. The 61-year-old owner added he would like to add another one or two playmakers to the Colts’ offense, and also mentioned left tackle and cornerback as two positions of need. Indianapolis finished 11-5 in the regular season and lost to the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Wild Card round.
