C.V. Burgess

Clarence Vernon “C.V.” Burgess, 85, of Washington, Indiana passed away surrounded by family on February 5, 2021, at his residence. Clarence was born on February 4, 1936 in Flora, Illinois, to Calvin and Goldie (Burgdorf) Burgess.  C.V. married Marilyn Breagle on December 6th, 1957.

C.V. served his country in the U.S Army. He spent his career working as an engineer for B&O Railroad and CSX Railroad. C.V. was a member of First Christian Church in Flora Illinois, and a Master Mason for Flora Lodge No. 204. He was also a member of the Hadi Shrine, and the Scottish Rite. C.V. loved to golf and enjoyed riding his motorcycle any chance he had.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; his daughter, Kim Talbert; grandchildren, Steve Neukam and Tayler Talbert; great grandchildren, Baylee Gordon, Gage Neukam, Ian Neukam and Keionnah Elliott; and great-great granddaughter Oakley Gordon. C.V. was preceded in death by his parents, sister Dorothy McMackin, and granddaughter Nikki Neukam.

Friends may visit with C.V.’s family from 12:00 pm until the hour of service at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at Goodwin – Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State St., Washington, IN. C.V. will be entombed at Sugarland Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 4400 Clayton Ave., St. Louis, MS 63110.
