Traffic stop sends Evansville man to jail

An early morning traffic stop sent one Evansville man to jail on Sunday. Police pulled over a car near Pollack and Elmendorf Avenue after 2 o clock Sunday morning. Thomas Shelton admitted to police that he had marijuana in the car, but he didn’t tell police about the meth and seven cell phones he also had. Shelton told police he travels with the drugs because he’s afraid someone will steal them from his home. Officers heard what they needed to hear, and took Shelton to the Vanderburgh County Jail. He’s is charged with dealing and possession meth as well as possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.
