The Daviess County Health Department released the latest COVID-19 numbers on Monday. 19 more cases of the virus have been confirmed since Friday. That brings the total case count since April of 2020 to 2,815. In addition, the Health Department confirmed 4 more deaths-bringing that total to 87. 11,076 residents have been tested to date. Daviess County is currently showing a 7-day positvity rate of 8.1%.
The number of total deaths for the county has increased due to a new data system at the Indiana Department of Health. The new system is now able to capture past deaths from various locations and match them to the County of residence. Therefore, adjustments have been made to the total number of deaths in Daviess County.
The Daviess County Health Officer has also lifted the visitation restrictions on nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Some facilities may not be able to allow visitations based on the status of their patients. The Health Department reminds people to check with the facility before arriving to confirm their visitation guidelines.
