No school for Washington so the Hatchet vs Mt Vernon boys game at the Hatchet House has also been postponed.  They will look to try for a make up date.  All other sporting events for the area have also been cancelled this evening.

Stay tuned for Girls Regional ticket information at Charlestown.  Parents and family will get first choice.  After that, details will be released based on number of tickets remaining.  Washington has been given 378 tickets.  Sales will be digital.  If Rushville does not sell all their tickets, there is a chance a few more may be available.  We will pass the information along as soon as we know.  The gym will be cleared out between semi final games in round one.
Yesterday was an odd day where no Division I basketball schools in the Hoosier state were involved in game action. Tonight at 4:30, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will take on the struggling Duke Blue Devils on the road. Duke is now just 7-7 on the season and have lost back-to-back games to Miami and North Carolina. The Irish have been up and down as well, but they’ve won four of their last six contests. At 5:00, the Ball State Cardinals will look for back-to-back wins for the third time this season when they battle at Central Michigan. Later at 9:00, the Butler Bulldogs will square off with St. John’s inside Hinkle Fieldhouse. The Dawgs fell in New York against the Red Storm 69-57 last month.
The Philadelphia Eagles may end up taking their time with deciding to trade quarterback Carson Wentz after all. Reports yesterday state that it is currently like a poker game and the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts could be the most likely suitors to acquire Wentz.
Major League Baseball and the Players Association have reached an agreement on rule confirmations for the 2021 season. The 2020 campaign brought along a new age in baseball with seven-inning doubleheaders and teams automatically having a runner at second base in extra innings. Both of those concepts will return this year. The designated hitter in the National League and expanded playoffs were not included in this deal, however.
The Cincinnati Reds signed veteran left-handed reliever Sean Doolittle to a one-year contract Monday.  Doolittle, 34, had a down year last season for the Washington Nationals during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, going 0-2 with a 5.87 ERA in 11 appearances. But he saved 75 games over the previous three seasons and was instrumental in helping the Nationals win the 2019 World Series.
The St. Louis Cardinals are bringing back Yadier Molina for an 18th season, the team announced Monday.  St. Louis agreed to a one-year, $9 million deal with the catcher.  Molina is a rarity, having spent his entire career — 2,025 games — with the Cardinals. The only two players to play more games in a Cardinals uniform in franchise history are Hall of Famers Stan Musial (3,026) and Lou Brock (2,289).
