The Daviess County Council met on Wednesday. The council heard from representatives from Baker Tilly about a creating comprehensive financial plan for the county. The company would assist with budgeting for different funds and projects as well as provide financial forecasts. The council tabled the proposal in order to look at details and other costs.
The council also heard from Sheriff Gary Allison who provided a report of the jail. He stated that transports were down in 2020. He also stated that their jail staff is down and that finding jailers has been difficult. Finding ammunition for the county has also been difficult due to the shortage.
In addition, the council approved a salary ordinance for part time animal control and a salary ordnance for adult probation. They also appropriated $800,000 in funds that were used to replace a window in the courthouse in addition to other improvements. The county is currently looking at remodeling parts of the courthouse; however, planning is in the very early stages and will depend on design costs.
