One boys basketball game last night, the North Daviess Cougars picked up a win on the road topping Clay City 50 to 36.  The Cougars improved to 15 and 3 and 6-0 in the conference and are set to host North Knox tonight.

The Washington Lady Hatchets are regional bound for the 3A basketball regional at Charlestown.  Washington is set to face Rushville in game one of the semi-finals at 11am tomorrow morning.  The other semi-final will have Evansville Memorial against Silver Creek.  The team will leave today from the school at 2:30pm.  The caravan route departs from the school to hwy50 at CVS.  They will drive business 50 to Mason’s then turn right on 257.  Fans are encouraged to line the route and give the team a community send off today.  Extensive live coverage begins at 10:05am tomorrow morning on Memories 107.9fm.
Good luck to the Loogootee Lady Lions tomorrow as they travel to Springs Valley for the 1A regional.  Loogootee will face Trinity Lutheran at noon.  Lanesville will play Tecumseh in game one at 10am.
The Washington Hatchet Football team announced yesterday several players were named academic all-state this year.  Iverson Dumervil. Gage Memering, Trey Reed, Reece Durnil, and Ian Hill.  Congrats to these young Hatchet scholar athletes.
Minnesota made clutch plays down the stretch and beat 24th ranked Purdue 71-68 Thursday night in Minneapolis. With his team down two, Marcus Carr buried a 3-pointer with 14 seconds left to give Minnesota a one point lead, and Trevion Williams was called for a travel on Purdue’s ensuing possession. Carr led the Golden Gophers with 19 points, including eight points in the final 68 seconds. Williams led Purdue with 24 points and 10 rebounds, and the Boilers dropped to 13-8 overall and 8-6 in the Big Ten.
Valparaiso University announced it is dropping the nickname Crusaders because the term has been embraced by hate groups. The University will no longer use the team name, the school mascot and all logos associated with the term. Valpo’s interim president Colette Irwin-Knott said in a video the mascot promotes “aggressive religious oppression and violence.” A new nickname was not announced, and president-elect Jose Padilla will oversee a committee to decide on a new name and mascot.

The Indiana Pacers ended a four-game losing streak with a 111-95 victory Thursday night over the Detroit Pistons. Domantas Sabonis led Indiana with 26 points, eight rebounds and eight assists as the Blue and Gold bounced back to .500 at 13-13.
