The Washington Lady Hatchets post season run ended Saturday at the Charlestown 3A Regional. Washington played without started Kencia Lavasseur and fell just short in the semi-final game to Rushville 55 to 52. Alaina Thorne had 21 points and 12 rebounds for the double-double, while senior Jade Browning added 18 points. Washington ends a great season at 19 and 2. Top ranked Silver Creek went on to win the tournament as they beat Rushville in the championship 54 to 45.
Loogootee is moving on to the semi-state at Jasper this Saturday as they advanced by winning the Springs Valley 1A Regional topping Tecumseh in the championship 55 to 38. Loogootee is 19 and 4 and set for a rematch with Greenwood Christian who is 16 and 6 Saturday at the Jasper 1A semi-state. Tip-off is set for 1pm Saturday afternoon. Good luck Lady Lions. With the win, Loogootee will now move to class 2A in girls Basketball next season.

After a massive crash on the last lap of the Daytona 500, Michael McDowell emerged victorious in NASCAR’s biggest race early Monday morning for his first career Cup Series win. McDowell was in third position on the backstretch of the last lap when Team Penske teammates Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski wrecked, which started a multi-car pileup. The 36-year-old McDowell drove past the crash to lead his only lap and earn his first career win in 14 seasons.
The Indiana Pacers are back at home Monday night to take on the Chicago Bulls in a Central Division battle. The Pacers won two games in a row to wrap up their three game road trip, including a come-from-behind victory over the Atlanta Hawks Saturday. The Blue and Gold are 14-13 and fifth in the Eastern Conference after recovering from a four game losing streak.
Notre Dame defeated Miami 71-61 Sunday night at the Joyce Center in South Bend. Notre Dame outscored Miami 40-30 in the second half to improve to 9-10 overall and 6-7 in the ACC.
