Washington’s School Board heard a report on its very popular Pre-School program that is housed at Lena Dunn Elementary. Assistant Superintendent Kevin Frank called the Pre-School program one of the “Gems of the District”. Lena Dunn Principal Jeanette Lobeck told the board that the program has a constant waiting list. The three-year old program not only attracts students from the entire Washington Community School District, but has children from the Vincennes and Barr-Reeve areas enrolled in the program. Lobeck says the focus is “learning through play”. Washington Schools are looking to add more classrooms and staff to the program.
In other business the Board gave Superintendent Dr. Dan Roach permission to advertise for Food Service RFP, as required every five years, with plans to award a contract on April 15.
The next Board meeting scheduled for March 18, will be held at Washington High School where there will be a presentation of the WHS’s highly regarded Robotics program.
At the end of the meeting the Board congratulated Coach Gretchen Miles and her staff , along with the Lady Hatchets for their successful season and the quality with which they represented WHS and the Washington Community.
The Board members also thanked Washington’s teachers and staff for being at school so Washington’s students could have in-person classes during everything going on this year.
