Velma Dee Reeves 99, of Petersburg passed away peacefully on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Amber Manor Care Center in Petersburg, Indiana.
She was born September 9, 1921 in Washington, In., to the late Arthur and Clara Earl Clements. Most of her lifetime had been spent in
Southern Indiana. Since the age of 12, she has been a member of Central Christian Church in Washington In. After attending Washington High School,
she enlisted in the Woman’s Army Corps in June of 1944 and was stationed at Will Rogers Field, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Her classification was
semi-skilled inspector and a parachute rigor. She was discharged after 18 months of service in 1946. She married Robert Reeves on May 8, 1946 and resided in
Ithaca, New York for the next 18 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Robert G Reeves on November 12, 2002.
She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda (William) Rush of Bedford, Vicki (Lannie) Willis of Petersburg, Five grandchildren, Melinda (Brian) Spice fo Bloomington,
Richard (Shelly) Gray of Washington, Michael Gray of Petersburg, Megan Taylor (Jeffrey Davis) of Petersburg, Bobbi Chapman, Washington. 13 great grandchildren and
5 great great grandchildren, 1 step-great grandchild.
There will be a service held Thursday,February 25, 2021 late morning at Sugarland Memory Gardens, officiated by Pastor Byron Holtsclaw.
