The Daviess County commissioners met on Tuesday for their regular session. Much of the start of the meeting was spent discussing the Daviess County Court House remodel plans. Judges from the Daviess County Court house were expressing budget and design concerns with the board. The board agreed to work with a set budget and put together a committee to review design plans. The committee would be made up of representatives from the courthouse in addition to one or more councilmen and one or more commissioners.
The board also heard from the highway department and approved two claim vouchers for the 900 East project. The project is set to go to bid next week. The board also approved a design and survey contract for Bridge 155 in the amount $265,575.
In other business the board approved the resignation letter of Mark Arnold who serves on the Daviess County Board of Health. The commissioners approved the appointment of Christopher Banks to the position. The board also approved a $14,000 contract with Baker Tilly who does budget consulting for the county. The Commissioners also presented an award to Tom McCracken from the U.S. Census Bureau. The Census Bureau wished to recognize former commissioner McCracken for his work with him on a past project.
Lastly the board discussed issues the county has had with AT&T. AT&T has been charging the county for two lines that the county has not been able to locate. The county auditor also reported that the county had not been receiving bills from AT&T for the lines. The Commissioners agreed to pay an $80 service fee to trace the lines and investigate the matter further.
