Adult Protective Services continues to run into financial trouble.
The Adult Protective Services program was established to investigate reports regarding adults who may be endangered. The program has about 17 different hubs throughout the state with one of them here in Daviess County. The hub in Daviess County covers several of the surrounding counties.
APS Administrator Rob Haseman spoke at yesterday’s Daviess County Council meeting about how the state budget for 2021 is anticipated to look much like that of 2020 where money for employee salaries and benefits was scarce.
Haseman said they are about $50,000 short and financial help from surrounding counties has been virtually non-existent.
Hasemen did mention that there is a possibility that one or more of the other hubs may send money back to the state that could be used for the Daviess County hub, but that there was no guarantee.
The county council agreed to discuss the matter further and to reach out to other counties. The topic is expected to be revisited in about a month.
