Open ticket sales start today in the Barr Reeve High School for the 1A Boys Basketball semi-state Saturday at the Hatchet House in Washington. Tickets are 10 dollars each and are good for the 1A game only. The gym will be cleared before the start of the 2A game between Southridge and Parke Heritage. Boston Celtics coach Brad Stevens said Tuesday he would not be quitting his job to return to his home state and coach the Indiana Hoosiers. Stevens said he appreciates the nice sentiments from Hoosiers fans and called it flattering, but said that he is happy in Boston. The Zionsville native played at DePauw before a highly successful stint at Butler. In 2013, he left to coach the Celtics and has led the storied franchise to the Eastern Conference Finals three of the last four seasons. However, this year’s Celtics team has struggled to a 20-19 record and fueled rumors that Stevens could want back into the college game.
After a three-game road trip, Indiana Pacers return home to take on the Brooklyn Nets Wednesday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The Blue and Gold went 1-2 on the trip, but saw progress. Indiana is 17-21 and has dropped five straight at home, while the Nets are second in the Eastern Conference at 27-13. Brooklyn will be without Kevin Durant due to a hamstring injury, but the Nets have won 11 out of 12 without KD in the lineup. Indiana and Brooklyn tip off at 7 p.m. Eastern from downtown Indianapolis.
Former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Jacoby Brissett agreed to a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The contract is for five million dollars guaranteed and has a maximum value of 7.5 million, according to the Boston Globe. Brissett spent four seasons in Indianapolis, and was the backup to Philip Rivers last season.
The Chicago Bears and quarterback Andy Dalton have agreed to a one-year, $10 million deal, with the chance for the quarterback to earn another $3 million in incentives. Chicago made “a very aggressive pursuit” of Seahawks QB Russell Wilson, sources said, but the Bears were told that Seattle is not trading him at this time. Dalton, 33, spent 2020 with the Cowboys after a nine-year run as the Cincinnati Bengals‘ starter.
