Eligible Hoosiers Urged to Get COVID Vaccinations

The State of Indiana continues to expand the eligibility of Hoosiers to get the COVID vaccine.  In yesterday’s COVID update, Governor Eric Holcomb and State Health Commissioiner Dr. Kris Box said that with the bar being dropped to include all Hoosiers over age 45, over half of all state residents can now receive the vaccine.   Holcomb and Box said that getting Hoosier to take the vaccine is the next obstacle in the State’s recovery from the pandemic.
The chief medical officer of the Indiana Department of Health is urging all eligible Hoosiers to protect themselves and get a COVID-19 shot.  Dr. Lindsay Weaver pleaded with Hoosiers  “Please do not take this disease lightly – get the vaccine to protect yourself and the people that you love,”
Gov. Eric Holcomb noted that in just 48 hours of becoming eligible, 93,000 Hoosiers between 45 and 50 had signed up to get the vaccine.
. An analysis of state and national data found that those between the ages of 40 and 50 were still 10 times more likely to die from COVID-19 complications than those between the ages of 20 and 30.
Daviess County continues to see an overall downturn in the COVID virus…but the virus is still infecting people.  The Daviess County Health Department reported one new COVID case has been diagnosed in the past five days.  Daviess and all surrounding counties continue to maintain their “Blue” status.
To schedule COVID vaccinations…eligible Indiana residents can call 211 on their phone or go on-line to ourshot.in.gov  and schedule a time and place to receive their COVID shot.
