Washington Community Schools has a new Transportation Director. Thursday night in School Board members approved the appointmetn of Kevin Byrer to the position.
And with the extension of a federal program, Washington students will again be receiving meals over the summer. Eben Iipps, Sodexo’s food manager, told the Board that the Federal Government had extended the Summer Meal Program through next summer. The program will be similar to last summer’s meal program for students under the age of 18.
Lipps also said the Schools would provide Breakfast and Lunch for students over a spring break. Meals can be picked up between 4 and 5 p.m. on Monday at Gate 4 of the Hatchet House.
In other personnel action resignations were received from secretaries Patty Arnold and Kelly Durnil, and Elementary teacher Leanna Larkin. The Board also approved several spring ECA appointments.
In other business, the board declared two older buses, a 2009 and a 2010 model, to be surplus property, approved recommended books for social studies and health text book adoptions, and gave approval for school sponsored trips to the National Beta Club Convention in Orlando, and a previously planned trip to Costa Rica for student studying Spanish, and the planning of a 2023 trip to France for French students.
