Henry A. Bennett

Henry A. Bennett age 86 of Washington passed away Friday, March 19, 2021 at his residence.
Henry was born November 16, 1934 in Madison, Indiana to Genevieve (Sauley) and Edward Bennett. Henry retired from Hoosier Energy. After his retirement Henry devoted tireless amounts of time building the Chapel and Hotel at Mary’s Children Farm located in Bloomington Indiana. He also enjoyed his travel to the Holy Land and was a member of the Devine Will prayer group. Henry was an avid member of Daviess County Right to Life and traveled multiple times to Washington DC showing his support for life. As a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Henry was always seated in the front row, early for confession and praying the Rosery before Mass. Praying the Rosery daily was his passion. Other hobbies included fishing, woodworking, watching old westerns, and cheering on his favorite teams, the Kentucky Wildcats and Chicago Cubs.
Henry is survived by three sons Lee Bennett, Scott (Marla) Bennett and Marty (Julie) Bennett, daughter Tracey (Bill, Jr.) McCain and daughter-in-law Mary Bennett all of Washington; sister, Anna Kelly, sister-in-law Louella Bennett, both of Madison, Indiana; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by the “love of his life”, Helen F. Bennett whom he married on August 6, 1953, she passed November 9, 2000, his parents, son Dan Bennett, great-granddaughter Josie Heidenreich, one daughter-in-law Susan Bennett, siblings, Charles Bennett, Marylou Smith, Jackie Ralston, Shirley Mundt, and Edna “Sis” Tilley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 with Father Sudhakar Bhastati as celebrant. Rosary will be read at 10:45 am. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery.
