The Milwaukee Bucks dominated the shorthanded Indiana Pacers 140-113 Monday night in Milwaukee. Indiana was on the second night of a back-to-back, and the Blue and Gold were without starters Malcolm Brogdon and Myles Turner due to injuries. Milwaukee scored 83 first half points, including 48 in the first quarter. The Pacers shot just 12-for-50 from 3-point range. Indiana dropped to 19-23, and Pacers return home for a Wednesday tilt with Detroit before two more road games.
The Indiana Hoosiers smothered VCU en route to a 63-32 win Monday afternoon in the first round of the women’s NCAA Tournament in San Antonio. The fourth seeded Hoosiers held the 13th seeded Rams to just three points over the final quarter to advance to the second round. The 32 points marked the sixth-fewest points allowed in the history of the women’s tourney. Grace Berger scored 13 of her game-high 20 points in the first half to go with eight rebounds. The Hoosiers will play 12th seeded Belmont tomorrow for the right to advance to the Sweet 16 after the Bruins upset number five seed Gonzaga 64-59.
The Sweet 16 is set after the second round of the men’s NCAA Tournament concluded Monday in Indianapolis. Out of the nine Big Ten teams that received bids to the “Big Dance,” only one remains after number one seed Michigan defeated LSU Monday. Other Big Ten teams Iowa and Maryland saw their seasons end with losses to Oregon and Alabama, respectively. Ten different conferences are represented in the Sweet 16, led by the Pac-12 with four teams still standing. The Sweet 16 will be played Saturday and Sunday with games at Bankers Life Fieldhouse and Hinkle Fieldhouse.
The Indianapolis Colts are signing former Los Angeles Chargers offensive tackle Sam Tevi, according to multiple media reports. The 26-year-old played in 58 games with 44 starts at right and left tackle over the past four seasons. The 6-foot-5 Texas native was a sixth-round pick out of the University of Utah in 2017 and is coming off his rookie contract.
