The Washington Hatchet Baseball team improved to 3 and 2 with a 14 to 4 five inning win
at Barr Reeve last night. Nick Sandullo got the win, while Chase Graber suffered the
loss for the Vikings. Three Hatchets had home runs including Ian Hill, Seth Holtsclaw,
and Jack Fry. Washington will play tonight at home against Heritage Hills in a conference
tilt at the Sports Complex.
The Washington Softball team traveled to Heritage Hills last night where they fell in the
conference match up to the Patriots in Lincoln City.

The Cincinnati Reds offense went on a tear again Wednesday and beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 11-4 at Great American Ballpark. The Reds scored five runs in the first and hit four homers for the game to improve to 5-1. Nick Castellanos and Tyler Naquin each launched their fourth home run of the season. Other baseball scores from Wednesday, Cleveland doubled up Kansas City 4-2. The Minnesota Twins rallied for a 3-2 win over the Detroit Tigers. Milwaukee scored three runs in the top of the tenth and held on to defeat the Cubs 4-2 at Wrigley Field. The St. Louis Cardinals blanked the Miami Marlins 7-0, and the Chicago White Sox gave up seven runs in the sixth inning and lost 8-4 to the Mariners in Seattle.
Indiana basketball picked up a commitment from Pittsburgh transfer Xavier Johnson Wednesday. One of the most sought after guards in the NCAA transfer portal, Johnson picked the Hoosiers over national champion Baylor, Final Four participant Houston and St. Joseph’s.
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway will be buzzing Thursday and Friday, as 32 drivers will participate in an open test for next month’s Indianapolis 500. The two-day session is closed to the public. Testing will run at the 2.5 mile oval from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 10 to 4 on Friday, and the test will stream on NBC’s streaming service Peacock.
The depleted Indiana Pacers held on to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 141-137 Wednesday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Indiana was without four players who would normally start due to various injuries.
