Mark “Butch” Westfall, 68 went to the big golf course in the sky, April 7, 2021. His wide and varied group of friends and acquaintances from school, golf, teaching, and the car business will miss his quirky sense of humor and smiling face.
Butch was born in Terre Haute, Indiana to Clarence Wallace and Rena Yerkes. He was later adopted by Jack and Earline Westfall. Butch had three sisters, Vicki Hamm-Kluberton, Robin Crossland-Alsoffi, and Diana Bennington; two brothers, Jay Nordgren and John Crossland. Butch was preceded in death by his birth and adopted parents; his son Mark Andrew “Andy” Westfall; and several old friends.
Butch loved a lot of people in his life. He also enjoyed several activities. Watching movies with comedies and documentaries were on the top of his list. He also earned his pilots license and loved all things aeronautical. He liked all different genres of music with his favorite being “our” era music. Clearwater and St. Petersburg, Florida were Butch’s happy places to be. He traveled anywhere and anytime he could.
There will not be a traditional memorial service for Butch. That would have not been his wishes. A “Butch Celebration” will be held at a later date, if that’s OK with Covid. Details will be posted when we figure them out. They will be posted on social media, flyers on utility poles, and graffiti on trains—probably just social media.
There will be a strictly followed “Tear Limit” for those in attendance. Two tears, per eye, four tears total. Happy tears and laughter are encouraged. Come to share stories, swap lies, and remember Butch.
His family plans to travel to Clearwater/St. Pete to scatter his ashes in the Gulf of Mexico. We believe Butch would highly approve this plan. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mark “Butch” Westfall.
