Washington tennis defeated Boonville 4-1. The Hatchets moved to 4-0 and 3-0 in the conference. Getting wins for the Hatchets were Bella Thorne, Alaina Thorne, and Kenli Barber at singles. Sophia Davis and Sydney Melton were also winners in doubles. The JV also won 6-2.
Washington Hatchet baseball topped Loogootee at home last night at the Sports Complex 11-1 in five innings. Nick Sandullo went the distance with a stellar performance on the bump for the Hatchets. Washington improved to 6-3 and Loogootee falls to 5-3. Washington plays at Tecumseh tonight.

White Sox pitcher Carlos Rodon threw a no-hitter, and Chicago beat the Cleveland Indians 8-0 at Guaranteed Rate Field. The 28-year-old lefty was two outs from a perfect game when an 0-2 slider barely grazed the back foot of Cleveland catcher Roberto Perez. He finished with seven strikeouts on 114 pitches.
The Chicago Cubs’ offensive struggles continued, as the Milwaukee Brewers blanked the Cubbies 7-0 in Milwaukee. Brewers starter Corbin Burnes struck out 10 over six two-hit innings, and Chicago mustered just four hits overall. Elsewhere in the Major Leagues, the Reds’ bats went silent against former Reds star Johnny Cueto, as the San Francisco Giants shut out Cincinnati 3-0. The Washington Nationals defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 6-0 and the Detroit Tigers held on to beat the Houston Astros 6-4.
Indiana basketball announced that Yasir Rosemond has been hired as the third and final assistant coach on Mike Woodson’s staff. He joins Kenya Hunter and Dane Fife on the bench. Rosemond played collegiately at Oregon and was an assistant coach for the Ducks from 2005 through 2010. He most recently was an assistant at Alabama from 2017 through 2019. Before that, he coached at Georgia from 2014 through 2017 and also has college coaching experience at Samford and Seattle. IU also announced that Clif Marshall will be retained as performance coach, while Brian Walsh, Benny Sander and Mike Roberts will also be retained on staff. Roberts was an assistant coach last year under Archie Miller, and will now be an assistant athletic director for basketball administration.
The Indiana Pacers defeated the Houston Rockets 132-124 Wednesday night in Houston. Caris LeVert led Indiana with 27 points as the Blue and Gold bounced back from a loss to the Clippers Tuesday. Indiana continues its three-game road trip Friday afternoon at the league-best Utah Jazz.
