Robert Mathews

Robert “Bob” L. Mathews of Benton, KY passed away peacefully Feb. 22, 2021 at age 83. He was at home in Winter Haven, FL where he and his wife spent the winter. He was born Nov. 17, 1938 to Paul and Rosemary (Sittloh) Mathews. He was married to Theresa (Shoultz) Mathews for 46 years.
He was a proud Army Vetersn, serving in Germany from 1959 through 1962. He was a Past Master of Masonic Lodge #41 in Romeo, MI in 1982 and a member of the Azan Shrine in Melbourne, FL. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Rollans College in 1985. He was the owner of Insurance Inc. Agency in Melbourne, FL for several years prior to retirement. He enjoyed golf and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Theresa; although they never had children together they share 5 sons, Robert II, Kevin and William (Butch) of Arkansas, Roger (Arlena) Morton of Petersburg, and Michael Campton of Ohio; Sisters-in-law, Lana, Pat, and Sue Mathews of Richmond, IN. Norma Leeberg of Spencer, IN, Gloria Bryant of Sullivan, IL, and Bonnie Brewster of Petersburg, IN; Brothers-in-law, Doyal (Sharon) Shoultz of Winslow, Carl Shoultz of Melbourne, FL, and Frank (Woody) Shoultz of Palm Bay, FL; 4 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, 3 great grandsons, 2 great granddaughters, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Rosemary; paternal-in-laws, Ozzie Shoultz and Mildred Parker; daughter, Sheri; grandson, Cody; brothers, Paul (Bud), Gary, Eddie, and Terry of Richmond, IN; brothers-in-law, Russell Bryant, Chuck Leeberg, Jerry Brewster, and john Shoultz; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Shoultz, Barrbara (Bobbi) Shoultz, and Joyce Shoultz.
Memorial services will take place from 12-1 PM EST on Saturday, April 24, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, IN and will be followed by a Masonic Service and Military Honors. In lieu of flowers please make donations to your local Alzheimers/ Dementia Reserch.
